You know those knots you get in your shoulders and neck ? Those are called trigger points They can form in any muscle in the body especially if that muscle is suddenly or overly used.
Commonly trigger points are found in the neck, shoulders, and low back. They can mimic other conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatica, and plantar fasciitis. They can cause or worsen migraines as well as tension headaches. Trigger points do not show up on x-ray, CT, or MRI. They can't be detected with a blood test. The only way to diagnose trigger points is to feel for them.
